Monitoring and Evaluation of our School Environment
As a Green School, we are aware of the importance of always caring for the school environment.
1. Each class spends a week observing, recording and reporting on the litter situation in our school environment. Litter checks are carried out daily and recorded on a star chart.
2. A weekly report is provided at assembly for all staff and pupils.
3. The star chart is displayed for all to view.
4. Rubbish bags are counted.
5. Food is eaten in the classrooms.
6. Every child is responsible for keeping their own classroom space tidy.
7. There is a recycling collection each Wednesday. The Green School Committee have reported that there is a good response to the collection.
8. We remind families of the glass and can recycling facility.
9. Compost bins are used in all classes. Children take turns to
empty the compost bins every week.
Conclusion: All members of our school community are now more aware of reusing, reducing and recycling. However, our yard bins need to be free of food and litter. We must remember to eat food in classrooms and bring home our litter.
