We wanted to find out if people use a washing machine and tumble dryer at home. Almost everyone who took part in the survey does use either one or both machines at home.

We asked how often people use their washing machine and tumble dryer. Two fifths of people use them everyday. That’s a lot of laundry!

If people try to avoid unnecessary electricity use between 5pm and 7pm they would help reduce pollution. That means waiting a few hours to put on your laundry. You will also use less energy if you use a wash cycle at a lower temperature.

We asked if people use a tumble dryer when the weather is sunny. We found that 21% of people either sometimes or always use their tumble dryer when they could just hang out their clothes.

We don't get many sunny days in Ireland, so we should take advantage of every one. Hanging out clothes is free, and there’s less chance of shrinking your favourite woollen jumper.

Do you use a washing machine?
How often?
