Our School

History of the School


St. Senan’s Primary School which first opened on the 27
th of February 1978 replaced the old Mercy Convent School. There were eight teachers and two hundred and ninety six pupils on roll. Presently the school has a staff of forty two teachers, and an enrolment of over five hundred pupils.

New School

A large extension was constructed in 2004/2005, and the 1978 building was totally refurbished. The present staff of St. Senan's Primary School comprises thirty seven teachers, twenty three special needs assistants, caretakers, a secretary and other part time staff.

A new extension to our school was official opened by Mary Hanafin T.D., Minister for Education and Science and blessing by most Rev. Denis Brennan, Bishop of Ferns on Tuesday, 12 September 2006.

School Mission Statement


St. Senan’s Primary School, Templeshannon, Enniscorthy, Co Wexford is a Catholic primary school which welcomes children of all religions and nationalities.

We, the school community, believe in the education of the whole child. Following a child-centred and holistic approach, we endeavour:

1. To recognise and acknowledge the talents and abilities of each child.
2. To nurture each child’s talents and self-esteem in a caring and supportive environment.
3. To provide the learning opportunities which will foster and develop the life-skills and resources necessary for his/her future role in society.
4. To uphold the catholic ethos of the school.
