Green-school Flag Award Ceremony 2009

Activities > Green-Schools > Flag 3 - Water

On the 28 of May 2009, we were awarded our 3 Green Flag for Water Conservation. Ms. O’ Grady (Green-School Co-ordinator), Ms. Stafford and some of our junior committee members, travelled to Croke Park Conference Centre to bring home our new flag. It was a proud day for our Green-Schools committee and for our school. Take a look at some of our photographs!

Being Part of the Green-School Community

The experience of being part of Green-Schools benefits St. Senan’s primary school enormously. Pupils from the age of five years to twelve years are encouraged to reduce, reuse and recycle every day. Adding water conservation to our challenge this year has made our awareness to conserve
all forms of energy, be it light, heat or water energy. We are constantly putting initiatives in place to remind teachers and pupils alike that being a Green-School is a continuous effort that must be constantly reiterated in our weekly assembly gatherings. Our whole school community in St. Senan’s realise that the responsibility to keep our school environmentally clean and friendly relies on the help and support of every person attending our school. To keep our Green-School recognition we must keep working as a team and ‘live’ by Green Code. In order for this to take place, it is important that our Green-School committee sets an example and this example is in turn passed onto staff members and pupils. Our senior pupils in our school must set good example and peer teach the younger pupils attending St. Senan’s. In this way, everyone is educated to ‘live’ by our Green Code.
