We asked if people leave computers turned on when they aren’t using it. Nearly a quarter of people either sometimes or always leave their computers on.

It’s interested to know that a computer that is turned off at night costs about €9 a day to power, while a computer that is left on 24 hours a day costs about €39 a day to power. This extra cost is because the fan is running overtime to keep the computer cool.

We asked if people leave radios turned on when they aren’t listening to them. As you can see nearly 40% of people either sometimes or always leave their radios on when they aren’t listening to them.

The cost of powering a radio isn’t as much as a television, but it can still waste electricity. You should know that about 5% of energy used in homes is wasted.
