Communication

Our School > I.C.T.

As St. Senan’s Primary School is such a large school, it is important for the staff to have a convenient method of communicating with one another. Therefore our internal email system was set up two years ago. It is used to inform staff of upcoming meetings and used by our principal, Dr. Goff, to inform us of relevant information. Teachers email one another during the day when necessary, therefore there are fewer interruptions for the class teacher i.e. children coming to the door on a message.

Our school website, www.stsenansps.ie, is a means of communicating with the outside world. It is used to promote our school and parents can use it to find information about activities within the school as well as other information such as school holidays. It is beneficial in that resources and projects from our school can be shared with other teachers from around the country and the world.

A Website Committee was formed, with members of staff from across the school community volunteering their talents. It was highlighted that ‘no technical expertise was required’ to ensure that people with a variety of talents joined the team. Each committee member took responsibility for a different aspect of the content of the school website, with children’s contribution put to the fore. After a month of taking pictures and writing content, the Website Committee met and read through everything to ensure there were no mistakes. When everything was perfect, Mr. McCauley used a program called Website X5 to create our website.

The staff and children of St. Senan’s are proud to share that our website was voted best new website by scoilnet.ie when it was first developed two years ago. In additional it was mentioned as a good example of a school website in the InTouch Magazine for Primary Teachers earlier this year.
